Traffic Advisory for the Week of May 23-29, 2022

ANNOUNCEMENT

Road Safety Reminder for the Week


THE RIGHT OF WAY RULE: Emergency Vehicles
Upon the approach of an authorized emergency vehicle (ambulance, police, fire equipment, civil defense, explosive ordinance, etc.) that is sounding a siren and/or displaying flashing red or blue lights, all highway users must yield the right-of-way (Motor Vehicle Code of Guam Section 3333).

  1. The operators of all other vehicles shall yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection and thereupon stop and remain in such position until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.
  2. All pedestrians upon the highway shall remain in a place of safety until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
 
Route 30 at Trankilo St – Tamuning
The center lane of Route 30 at Trankilo St. will remain closed at the beginning of the week. It is anticipated that barriers will be removed and the lane will reopen Wednesday, 5/25/22. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.
 
Route 1 Resurfacing from Route 30 to Route 10A – Tamuning
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday, 5/23/22 to Friday, 5/27/22, motorists are advised there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound and northbound traffic between Route 14 (Chalan San Antonio) and 10A (Airport Road).

From 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, 5/28/22 to Sunday, 5/29/22, there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound traffic between Route 14B (Ypao Road) and Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road).

From 4:00 PM Saturday, 5/28/22 to 6:00 AM Monday, 5/30/22, all southbound lanes will be closed at the Route 1 and Route 14 (Chalan San Antonio) Intersection. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and alternate routes will be posted for access to and from Route 1 and Route 14. Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road) and Route 14B (Ypao Road) may be used as alternate routes.
 
Route 4 Striping and Marking – Route 1 to Route 10
Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures at the intersections along Route 4 in Chalan Pago from 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday, 5/23/22 – Friday, 5/27/22.
 
Route 28 Rehabilitation from Route 1 to Bumuchachu Street – Dededo
Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along Route 28 between Buena Vista Avenue and Aurora Street from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 5/23/22 – Friday, 5/27/22.
