Meeting started at 4:00 pm, roll call conducted by Executive Secretary, all members present in-person or via Zoom.

2. Approval of Agenda

Motion to move New Business presentation on CHamoru Studies to accommodate guests presenting.  Moved by L. Baza-Cruz. Approved.

3. Approval of Minutes

Minutes reviewed, March 20, 2023, motion by Chelsey SanNicolas, 2^nd Dr. Lisa Baza-Cruz, approved by with corrections. 

4. Reports
   1. Treasurer: Ms. Chelsey San Nicolas provided the treasury report on available funds and expenditures. 
   2. Chairperson: report with GDOE’s meeting concerning PRAXIS and Certification, in attendance Roberta Abaday, Kenneth Perez, Dr. Won Pat, Dr. Okada.
   3. Executive Director: Reported certification processed 434, between January 2 to August 18, 2023. Presented Standard operating procedure during condition of readiness, employee computer usage policy. Approved and placed in binder and listed by year.
   4. Sub-Committees: There will be a meeting called for the sub committee to review the PRAXIS requirements.
5. Old Business
   1. Educator Misconduct: Discussed in Executive session due to personnel matters.
   2. Trip to 94^th NASDTEC 2023 Conference Phoenix, AZ June 10-13 : Dr. Lisa Baza-Cruz shared that they received high praises from NASDTEC for the video on Ethics created by Dr. Aldrin Cajigal and David Mercado.  Recomnedated to share with Troy Hudges, UoH. 
6. New Business
   1. UOG CHamoru Studies (CM) Program: Dr Kisha Borja-Calvo, Program Coordinator. A packet copy is provided of their proposal for board review and approval of the CHamoru Studies Certification for education studies program. Dr. Enriquez shared that the new courses must go through the University for approval.   The GCEC Chairperson questioned if there would be courses on methods for secondary education.  The GCEC were asked to review the packet provided before the next meeting.  The program is not part of the School of Education educator preparation program. 

 

7. Ex-Officio: Ms.Doris Faisao- GDOE continue need of teachers. Ms. Faisao will share the 5 year data of challenges in recruitment.
8. Announcements: Next meeting to be announced.
9. Executive Session (not recorded, Commission members only)
   1. Request for Revocation discussed and approved.
