Please be advised that the Committee on Child Welfare, Youth Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women’s Affairs, Disability Services, the Arts, Culture, Historic Preservation, and Hagåtña Restoration (“Committee”) will convene a Public Hearing on Friday, May 9, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m, in the Public Hearing Room, Guam Congress Building, with the following agenda:

  • The appointment of Nicole A. Calvo as a Member to the Guam Historic Preservation Review Board.

  • The appointment of Marvin Q. Aguilar as a Member to the Guam Historic Preservation Review Board.

  • Bill No. 124-38 (COR) - Telo T. Taitague - “AN ACT TO AMEND § 403(n) OF CHAPTER 4, TITLE 1, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO CHANGING THE OFFICIAL NAME OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF “ASAN” TO ITS NAME IN THE CHAMORU LANGUAGE, NAMELY “ASSAN-MA’INA.”

  • Bill No. 129-38 (COR) - Shelly V. Calvo - “AN ACT TO ADD A NEW § 1041 TO CHAPTER 10, TITLE 1, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO ESTABLISHING FEBRUARY 21 OF EACH YEAR AS HA’ÅNEN HILA’ NÅNA (MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY).”

  • Bill No. 130-38 (COR) - Shelly V. Calvo “AN ACT TO AMEND SUBSECTION 1000(a) AND §§ 1025 AND 1037 OF CHAPTER 10, TITLE 1, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED; AND TO AMEND THE TITLE AND §  88103 OF CHAPTER 88, TITLE 5, GUAM CODE  ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO ADOPTING CHAMORU ORTHOGRAPHY FOR OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS, AND TO UPDATING THE ENABLING ACT OF I KUMISION I FINO’ CHAMORU YAN I FINA’NÅ’GUEN I HISTORIA YAN I LINA’LA’ I TAOTAO TÅNO’.”

  • Bill No. 42-38 (COR) - William A. Parkinson/Tina Rose Muña Barnes - “AN ACT TO AMEND § 88102; ADD A NEW § 88109; AND TO AMEND § 88104(g) AND (h), ALL OF CHAPTER 88, TITLE 5, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO STRENGTHENING THE FISCAL SUSTAINABILITY; ESTABLISHING THE PERSONNEL POLICY; AND INCREASING STIPENDS PAID TO COMMISSION MEMBERS, RESPECTIVELY, OF I KUMISIÓN I FINO’ CHAMORU YAN I FINA’NÅ’GUEN I HISTORIA YAN I LINA’LA’ I TAOTAO TÅNO’.”

Written testimonies should be addressed to Senator Shelly V. Calvo, Chairperson of the Committee, and submitted via hand delivery or electronic mail at least one day prior to the Public Hearing.

The Public Hearing will broadcast on local television on GTA Channel 21 and Docomo Channel 117; and stream online and will be recorded for later viewing on the Guam Legislature Media YouTube channel.
