Maga’låhen Hurao CHamoru Academy Charter School is a CHamoru language immersion charter school dedicated to revitalizing CHamoru language, culture, and identity through innovative, community-centered education. Position: A’akuden Manmå’gas (Executive Assistant)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director 

 

Position Overview:
Maga’låhen Hurao is seeking a dedicated A’akuden Manmå’gas (Executive Assistant) to provide administrative and operational support to our leadership team, including the Executive Director, Operations Director, Program Director, and Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, cultural competency, and a commitment to supporting CHamoru language revitalization and community engagement.
 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, and communications for the leadership team and Board.
  • Prepare and distribute official documents, meeting materials, and correspondence.
  • Manage records and assist with compliance and reporting needs.
  • Support family and community engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects, event planning, and procurement as needed.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in spoken and written CHamoru language or demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Respect and understanding of CHamoru culture and traditions.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ administrative experience, preferably in education or nonprofit settings.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with office software and virtual communication platforms.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience supporting executive leadership and Board operations.
  • Knowledge of indigenous or immersion education settings.
  • Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Community involvement or lived experience considered a valuable qualification.
