Re: Second Notice of Roundtable Hearing – September 15, 2025, 2:00 PM

Buenas yan Håfa Adai! Please be advised that the Committee on Child Welfare, Youth Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women’s Affairs, Disability Services, the Arts, Culture, Historic Preservation, and Hagåtña Restoration (“Committee”) will convene a Roundtable Hearing on Monday, September 15, 2025, beginning at 2:00PM in the Public Hearing Room, Guam Congress Building, with the following agenda:

  1. Opening Remarks
    • Purpose of Hearing: Review of Language Access Plan (LAP) compliance and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) inclusion
    • Acknowledgment of Executive Order 2015-05
  2. Overview Presentation
    • DISID: Status of LAP implementation across agencies
    • Summary of current gaps in access for DHH individuals
    • Review of federal ADA and CLAS standards
  3. Agency Testimonies
  4. Community and Advocacy Testimonies 
  5. Roundtable Discussion 
  6. Legislative Action and Next Steps
  7. Closing Remarks

How to Participate

Individuals wishing to attend in person or provide oral or written testimony may contact the Office of Senator Shelly V. Calvo no later than September 12, 2025, for further guidance. Written testimonies should be addressed to Senator Shelly V. Calvo, Chairperson of the Committee, and submitted via hand delivery or electronic mail at least one (1) day prior to the Hearing.

The Hearing will broadcast on local television on GTA Channel 21 and Docomo Channel 117; and stream online and will be recorded for later viewing on the Guam Legislature YouTube channel.
