16 year-old male escapes custody of DYA in Mangilao

On the evening of October 1, 2025, a male minor fled on foot from DYA’s Youth Correctional Facility.  According to initial reports, at 9:00 p.m., a male resident was retrieving a mop and mop bucket outside of the Youth Correctional Facility’s Intake office. The minor then ran away from the Officer supervising him. An immediate search was launched on the compound and the surrounding Mangilao area. GPD was notified however, the minor has not been located.
The youth had been in DYA’s custody since September 4, 2024, for multiple offenses to include beyond control, burglary, criminal trespass, conspiracy to commit theft of property, theft of property, and criminal mischief. The matter is currently under investigation as the search continues.
The safety and well-being of the community, as well as the youth are DYA’s top priorities. We are working diligently with GPD to ensure the minor’s safe return to custody. The public is advised to contact DYA at 735-5022 if they have any information on the whereabouts of the minor. Description of the minor is as follows:
Male
Age- 16
Height- 5’4”
Weight- 148 lbs.
Ehtnicity- CHamoru
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
The minor was last seen wearing a purple George Washington High School polo uniform shirt, black shorts, and black slippers with a white graphic on the strap. Minor has both a scar and birthmark on the left of his abdomen. No further information is available as of this time.
