Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of two COVID-19-related fatalities:
Standing Order Issued for Second Booster Shot for 50 and Older
Today, DPHSS issued a standing order for the second booster dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for individuals 50 years of age or older and for certain immunocompromised individuals following completion of a three-dose primary vaccination series. The standing order provides guidance as follows:

COVID-19 Test Results: 45 New Cases Reported
Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 from 624 specimens analyzed on March 30, 2022. 12 of the cases reported today are through the Department of Defense. To date, there have been a total of 47,265 officially reported cases, 346 deaths, 769 cases in active isolation, and 46,149 not in active isolation.
15 Hospitalized for COVID-19
SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 5 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 142 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 28 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.
Changes Made to COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Schedule
The Northern Region Community Health Center (NRCHC) and Southern Region Community Health Center (SRCHC) will be closed for vaccination on Saturday, April 2. Community testing will only be offered at NRCHC on Saturday, April 2. Changes to the schedule are below:
Mangilao mAb Treatment Center Closed Monday
The public is advised that the monoclonal antibody therapy (mAb) Treatment Center located at the Mangilao Senior Citizens Center in Mangilao will be closed on Monday, April 4, for facility maintenance. The treatment center will reopen on Tuesday, April 5, and continue throughout the week. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (671) 998-4627.
Guam COVID-19 Vaccination Update
As of March 30, 2022, a total of 135,958 of Guam’s eligible population (residents 5 years and older) is fully vaccinated. This total includes 13,800 residents 12 – 17 years old. 7,767 residents 5 – 11 years old received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech two dose series. 6,092 residents 5 – 11 years old have completed their two-dose series. A total of 57,073booster shots have been administered to eligible residents since September 29, 2021.

Two COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of two COVID-19-related fatalities:
- The 345th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City on March 25, 2022. The patient was a 41-year-old male, unvaccinated, who had underlying health conditions and tested positive on March 19.
- The 346th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital on March 30, 2022. The patient was a 70-year-old male, fully vaccinated, who had underlying health conditions and tested positive on March 19.
Standing Order Issued for Second Booster Shot for 50 and Older
Today, DPHSS issued a standing order for the second booster dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for individuals 50 years of age or older and for certain immunocompromised individuals following completion of a three-dose primary vaccination series. The standing order provides guidance as follows:
- People ages 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised may choose to receive a second booster dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after the first booster dose
- Adults ages 50 years and older who are not moderately or severely immunocompromised may choose to receive a second booster dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after the first booster dose.
- People ages 18-49 years who are not moderately or severely immunocompromised and who received Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine as both their primary series dose and booster dose may receive a second booster dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after the first Janssen booster dose
- Further clarification of safety issues including those related to multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) and adults (MIS-A) and myocarditis
