(Tuesday, October 8, 2024; Tamuning, Guam) At yesterday’s oversight hearing, the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) focused on sharing its progress in enhancing and expanding services, increasing the recruitment and retention of nurses and medical staff, and how its budget shortfall impacts its ability to address its challenges. GMHA management requested additional funding for the hospital to maintain its full slate of services. GMHA staff care for everyone who walks through its door despite a budget shortfall.

The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) recently received a Bronze medal award from Health Quality Innovators (HQI) through the Health Quality Improvement Contractors (HQIC) Recognition Program for its success in improving the quality and safety of healthcare. The Panda Cares Foundation made a special visit to the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) on Thursday, September 4, 2024 to celebrate their grant of $124,396.00 to the hospital for critically needed cribs and an incubator for our youngest patients. GMHA used a portion of the grant to purchase three specialty cribs for the Pediatric Unit and most recently, the hospital received a GE Giraffe Incubator Carestation, valued at $48,306.00. The new state-of-the-art incubator is currently in use in GMHA’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
