COVID-19 Test Results: 32 New Cases, 13 Hospitalized;
Food Commodities Distribution Continues April 13; 
10 Cases with Variants of Concern Identified;

COVID-19 Test Results: 32 New Cases Reported
Today, DPHSS reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 from 524 specimens analyzed on April 11, 2022. 11 of the cases reported today are through the Department of Defense. To date, there have been a total of 47,631 officially reported cases, 352 deaths, 221 cases in active isolation, and 47,058 not in active isolation.

SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 8 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 37 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 5 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.

10 Cases with Variants of Concern Identified
Today, DPHSS received ten (10) new results from virus samples collected on Guam between March 11 to March 19, 2022, which have undergone genome sequencing by the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) State Laboratory Division. DPHSS received the seventh set of results from the Hawaii DOH State Laboratory Division. All 10 samples were identified as the Omicron Variant of Concern (VOC). The breakdown is as follows:
Omicron 
·       Ten (10) BA.2
 
To date, 686 SARS-CoV-2 virus samples have been submitted to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Hawaii DOH State Lab Division for genome sequencing. 
 
Food Commodities Distribution Continues April 13
GDOE, State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution is limited to three households per vehicle at the sites. Face masks must be worn; bring a photo ID.

Mangilao mAb Treatment Center to Close on Thursday
The monoclonal antibody therapy (mAb) Treatment Center located at the Mangilao Senior Citizens Center in Mangilao will be closing on Thursday, April 14 in anticipation of the reopening of Senior Citizens Centers to the community. This will be the last week to avail of mAb therapy treatment at the Mangilao Senior Citizens Center from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (671) 998-4627. Alternative treatment venues are being considered to continue this service for the community.
 
Guam COVID-19 Vaccination Update
As of April 11, 2022, a total of 136,154 of Guam’s eligible population (residents 5 years and older) is fully vaccinated. This total includes 13,800 residents 12 – 17 years old. 7,840 residents 5 – 11 years old received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech two dose series. 6,205 residents 5 – 11 years old have completed their two-dose series. A total of 57,990booster shots have been administered to eligible residents since September 29, 2021.
