Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 50 New Cases, 10 Hospitalized;
Food Commodities Distribution Continues April 22;

COVID-19 Test Results: 50 New Cases Reported
Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 from 664 specimens analyzed on April 18, 2022. 12 of the cases reported today are through the Department of Defense. To date, there have been a total of 47,826 officially reported cases, 354 deaths, 255 cases in active isolation, and 47,217 not in active isolation.

SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 5 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 56 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 11 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.
 
Food Commodities Distribution Continues April 22
GDOE, State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution is limited to three households per vehicle at the sites. Face masks must be worn; bring a photo ID.

GHC Annual Passport to Services Outreach is from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Ypao Beach Amphitheater and will distribute food commodities only for registered street and sheltered homeless persons.

Mangilao mAb Treatment Center Open this Week
The monoclonal antibody therapy (mAb) Treatment Center located at the Mangilao Senior Citizens Center is open for this week and will then be closed in anticipation of the reopening of Senior Citizens Centers to the community on May 2. Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday of this week. To schedule an appointment, please call (671) 998-4627. Beyond May 2, alternative mAB treatment venues are being considered to continue this service for the community.

Guam COVID-19 Vaccination Update
As of April 18, 2022, a total of 136,252 of Guam’s eligible population (residents 5 years and older) is fully vaccinated. This total includes 13,873 residents 12 – 17 years old. 7,871 residents 5 – 11 years old received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech two dose series. 6,255 residents 5 – 11 years old have completed their two-dose series. A total of 57,926eligible residents have received their first booster shots. A total of 1,695 eligible residents have received their second booster shots.
