PUA Batch Will be Delayed Due to July Fourth Holiday

PUA Batch Will be Delayed Due to July Fourth Holiday

PRESS RELEASE

Hagåtña, Guam – The scheduled batching of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and other federal aid for next week will be pushed back one day due to the July Fourth Holiday and Guam’s time zone difference. PUA claimants should expect a delay in their direct deposits and checks.

Guam Department of Labor’s regular batch day falls on the observance day of the Fourth of July in the Continental United States. Instead of Tuesday Chamorro Standard Time, the software vendor will run the batch Wednesday night.

The agency also reminds claimants there is a time frame in getting unemployment assistance delivered electronically and checks mailed out. After each batch is run, we are required to reconcile and audit for fraud, as well as deductions accuracy.

“It’s similar to making a deposit at the bank which can take one to five business days to clear. There are a lot of moving parts when we batch which can cause small issues that need to be addressed. It can take a day or two to ensure the batch is clean. After that is when we request the drawdown of funds from the US Department of Labor, which can take a few more business days. The payments are not immediate and a payment window should be expected,” said Labor Director David Dell’Isola.

“If there is a major problem with a batch, I would let the island know,” Dell’Isola added.

This Press Release is supported by the Employment and Training Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor as part of an award totalling $1,025,639,341 with 0% financed by non-governmental sources.
