Traffic Advisory for the Week of August 8-14, 2022

ANNOUNCEMENT

Road Safety Reminder for the Week


SCHOOL BUSES
The Motor Vehicle Code of Guam expressly requires that traffic in all directions must come to a complete stop when approaching a school bus that is stopped for the purpose of taking on or discharging students, WHETHER OR NOT ANY STUDENTS ARE CROSSING THE ROAD. School buses must display their red, four-way flashing signal lights as well as the Stop-arm located on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Even on multi-lane highways when the bus is on the other side of the road, you must stop until the Stop-arm is retracted and the bus resumes motion unless the bus driver signals you to proceed.

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
 
Route 1 Resurfacing from Route 30 to Route 10A – Tamuning
From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 8/8/22 to Friday, 8/12/22, motorists are advised there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures for both northbound and southbound traffic along Route 1 from Route 30 (Governor Carlos Camacho Road) to Route 10A (Airport Road) and on Route 10A (Airport Road) at the Route 1 intersection.
 
Route 28 Rehabilitation from Route 1 to Bumuchachu Street – Dededo
On Monday, 8/8/22 – Friday, 8/12/22 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and on Saturday, 8/13/22 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along Route 28 from West San Antonio Avenue to Clara Street.
 
Islandwide Signing System Upgrade – Rt 15/Rt 26 (Mangilao), Rt 15/Rt 29 (Yigo),Rt 1 S/O Rt 6 (Adelup) Intersections and Various Locations
From 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 8/8/22 – Friday, 8/12/22, removal and restriping of pavement markings will occur for the alongfollowing intersections, weather permitting:
Motorists are advised of lane shifts and intermittent lane closures.

Reminder: On Tuesday, 8/9/22, the new ALL-WAY STOP (4-way Stop Sign) traffic pattern will take effect at the intersections of Route 15/29 (Gayinero Drive) and Route 15/26 (Macheche Road). The new configuration will require motorists to stop on the north and southbound lanes of Route 15 at the intersections at Route 26 and Route 29.
 
Islandwide Village Street Pavement Resurfacing – Mongmong-Toto-Maite
From 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday, 8/8/22 - Friday, 8/12/22, motorists are advised of intermittent lane closures on Sgt. Roy T. Damian Jr. St. The contractor will continue applying anti-skid surfacing.
 
Route 1 Median Pedestrian Safety Fencing Replacement (Across JFK) – Tamuning
Starting Monday, 8/8/22, the DPW contractor will be replacing the fencing on the median of Route 1 near JFK High School. Motorists are advised that the innermost lane for both northbound and southbound traffic will be closed while work crews are present.
