Acting Governor Tenorio Announces Achievement of 80% Full Vaccination Rate

PRESS RELEASE

Hagåtña, Guam - Operation Liberate Guam has reached its target goal of fully vaccinating 80% of the island’s adult population. To date, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) has certified that a total of 96,066 eligible adult individuals have received either both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose series or the Johnson & Johnson single-dose series.

“I would like to thank our hard-working men and women behind the scenes at our vaccination clinics and private medical clinics, our entire medical community, our Chief Medical Advisor Col. Mike Cruz, our Physicians Advisory Group, DPHSS, Guam National Guard, our DOE nurses, UOG, and especially all those who have been fully vaccinated for contributing to this great success,” said Acting Governor Tenorio. “I appeal to all eligible individuals in our community, especially those working with our most vulnerable populations, to please get vaccinated as it is: FREE, accessible, and effective. Lastly, I want to commend our Governor Lou Leon Guerrero for leading us in this effort and for utilizing her nursing skills and leadership to get us to this point.”

Under E.O. 2021-16, restrictions, including limitations on social gatherings, reduced occupancy of establishments, social distancing requirements, except in school settings based on the applicable guidance memorandum from DPHSS, and the requirement of operations on an appointment-only basis will be lifted beginning at 12:01 am July 30, 2021.

The mask mandate continues to remain in effect, and Guam continues to be in Pandemic of Condition of Readiness 3.
