Search Through All NoticesHagåtña, Guam - Over the weekend, the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Guam National Guard (GUNG) completed the cleanup of two illegal dump sites along Route 15 Mangilao. Cleanup efforts started last Thursday and resulted in the removal of 15 loads of mixed waste, which were properly disposed of at the Layon Landfill. DPW deployed a backhoe, payloader, and dump truck to support the cleanup initiative.
“Each and every day, we are making progress. In addition to restoring water and power to homes, we are seeing visible improvements signaling recovery is well underway,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “In addition to their daily duties, DPW crews have been hard at work removing and managing debris, transporting food commodities, repairing traffic lights, restoring our parks, and even deploying bus drivers to help with ongoing roofing repairs. To the men and women who are putting Guam’s recovery before their own, we thank you for your service.”
“North to south, we’re seeing cleanups led by our local government and the local nonprofit community. To ensure these efforts don’t go wasted, we urge our residents to use the over dozen sites, located islandwide, to properly dispose of their debris and trash,” said Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio, chairperson of the Islandwide Beautification Task Force.
