“In our first year in office, our administration proudly established a pathway for war reparations, and within weeks of establishing a processing center, we celebrated the distribution of our first checks,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “More than just war reparations, we upheld our sacred duty to deliver justice to our Greatest Generation.”
“While the local program has officially ended, we have and will continue to celebrate the legacy of our Greatest Generation,” said Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio. “We thank the families of our survivors who provided the emotional and physical support for our manåmko’ as well as the work of our local staff and the Guam War Claims Adjudication Committee for ensuring those who were eligible could avail of this very special opportunity to bring closure.”
Public Law 36-32 establishes the Guam World War II Reconciliation Act of 2021 with the intent of giving compensation to our Greatest Generation. The Guam War Claims Fund pays certified claims to compensable Guam victims and survivors of compensable decedents as duly adjudicated by the Guam War Claims Adjudication Committee.
Adjudicated claims are publicized through local media outlets and online at the Department of Administration website. For more information, visit doa.guam.gov or contact the Department of Administration Benefits Division at 671-475-1296 or guamwarclaims@doa.guam.gov.
