Results: 21 New Cases of COVID-19
Twenty-one (21) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 516 tests performed on August 5. Three (3) cases were identified through contact tracing. One (1) case reported recent travel history and was identified in quarantine. To date, there have been a total of 8,673 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 160 cases in active isolation – inclusive of 4 hospitalized cases with 1 hospitalized case receiving ICU-level care, and 8,370 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 5.4.
Two GDOE Employees Test Positive for COVID-19
Today, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed two separate cases of COVID-19, one being an employee at Tiyan Central Office and the other an employee at John F. Kennedy High School. In collaboration with the DPHSS, the GDOE has identified and notified close contacts, all of whom will remain in quarantine until they are cleared by DPHSS to return to school. Areas have been cleaned and disinfected in preparation for regular hours of operation on Monday, August 9.
COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule
COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue at the locations and times below. Bring a photo ID. Those due for their second dose are reminded to bring their COVID-19 immunization card. To view the complete schedule of COVID-19 vaccination clinics, visit dphss.guam.gov/vaccinategu.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and provide government-issued identification to validate age. Minor’s birth certificate is acceptable. Parent/legal guardian must have a government-issued ID. Guardians must also present legal guardianship or power-of-attorney document.
Free COVID-19 Testing Schedule
COVID-19 community testing continues from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Tuesday at the old carnival grounds in Tiyan, Barrigada. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Bring a photo ID. Results available onsite. Testing for travelpurposes will not be conducted at these community testing sites. Call the DPHSS Northern Region Community Health Center at (671) 635-7525/6 to schedule an appointment for COVID-19 testing for travel. Priority is given to patients under investigation, identified close contacts, and those traveling for medical purposes. Only four (4) people per vehicle are allowed to be tested.
SNAP Supplemental Emergency Allotment (EA) Issuances for August 2021
SNAP Supplemental Emergency Allotment for August 2021 will be released on August 20, 2021. The benefits will be electronically loaded into the SNAP recipients’ EBT cards.

Food Commodities Distribution Continues
The Guam Department of Education, State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis. A limit of three households per vehicle will be serviced at distributions. Face masks must be worn. Bring a photo ID.

Governor Leon Guerrero Signs Executive Order No. 2021-17
Today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order No. 2021-17, relative to requiring Government of Guam Employees in the executive branch to vaccinate against COVID-19, and orders such that:
- EFFECTIVE MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2021: all workers of the executive branch line agencies of the government of Guam shall be required to receive one of the three authorized COVID-19 vaccines. Workers shall be fully vaccinated with either a single shot of the Johnson & Johnson or the two shot Pfizer or Moderna series no later than September 24, 2021.
- In the event a worker declines to receive a COVID-19 vaccination or provide proof of such vaccination, they will be required to test for COVID-19 with a PCR or antigen test once weekly. Non-exempt workers are required to vaccinate or submit to weekly testing as provided herein, or they shall be subject to disciplinary procedures.

The community is reminded to remain vigilant:
- Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Watch your distance.
- Get vaccinated. Tune into local media and the latest JIC releases for vaccine availability.
- Stay home if you are sick, keep away from others who are sick.
- Keep a safe distance of at least 6 feet from others who are not in your household.
- Practice social distancing around elderly family members.
- Businesses and services may implement more stringent COVID-19 measures as they see fit, such as physical barriers, social distancing, and limited occupancy.
