Hagåtña, Guam - The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration recently welcomed its youngest advisors to address issues impacting youth. On Thursday, September 28, 2023, Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio swore in 15 members of the Governor’s Youth Advisory Council during a ceremony held at the Guam Museum. Established by Executive Order 2020-02, the council consists of student leaders from Guam's high schools, colleges, and universities.
“As we make decisions in the government, our student leaders are the conscience of our collective. All the work and policy we make today will impact them the longest,” said Lt. Governor Tenorio. “I'm looking forward to working with each of our members individually and collectively to make the most of the ongoing school year and activate their interests and their intentions.”
Previous councils focused on a summit to outline youth priorities, feedback on in-person learning at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ways to address brain drain and school safety. Student leaders will also work closely with agencies, including the Department of Youth Affairs and the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center.
Sworn-in members and their schools are as follows:
