Over $7M in FY 2024 CIP Funding Awarded to Guam

PRESS RELEASE

Hagåtña, Guam - The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration has been awarded $7,082,993 in Fiscal Year 2024 Capital Improvement Project Funding. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Interior under the Office of Insular Affairs (OIA) and will be used for the following:

  • $3,500,000 for the acquisition of a warehouse facility and collateral equipment necessary for operations 
  • $2,500,000 in supplemental funding for the construction of the Department of Youth Affairs Administrative Building 
  • $1,082,993 for the renovation of facilities at Chamorro Village 

“We are pleased to announce funding to bolster numerous projects across the island. This update comes from Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Carmen Cantor, who shared this news while on Guam for the 26th Micronesian Islands Forum. We eagerly anticipate transforming this financial support into concrete projects and programs to benefit our people,” said Acting Governor Tenorio. 

Additionally, $2,590,500 in Technical Assistance Program has also been awarded through the Office of Insular Affairs Technical Assistance Program for FY 2024:

  • $750,000 to the Bureau of Statistics and Plans for the Customs and Import Operations Modernization Project
  • $500,000 to the Office of Technology for the Zero Trust and Data Protection Project
  • $240,500 in partial funding to the Guam Police Department for a Crime Scene Response Van to Enhance Law Enforcement Capabilities for Safer Communities
  • $185,000 to the Guam Fire Department for the Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment Project 
  • $72,000 to the Department of Education for Internal Audit Office Training
  • $33,000 in partial funding to the Guam Memorial Hospital for Trauma Nursing Care Courses and the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
  • $500,000 to the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials for the Guam Interagency Business Process Improvement Program to Strengthen Administrative Capacity
  • $250,000 to the Mañe’lu for the Micronesian Resouce Center One-Stop Shop
  • $60,000 to the Guam Community College for the 3rd Regional Forensic Science Symposium
