The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) is pleased to share the project to upgrade the power system in the Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Obstetrics Ward (OB) has been completed. The power upgrade is supplying enough power to run the new split air conditioning units, which are operating without issue.
The new air conditioning units have reduced the air temperature to cool and comfortable levels, allowing mothers to focus on delivering their babies. “We are delighted the air cooling quality issue in the L&D and OB Ward is finally resolved. Restoring air conditioning to our mothers has been our highest priority project and I’m proud of our Facilities Management team for the commitment and diligence to complete this important project,” said Lillian Perez-Posadas, Hospital Administrator.
Restoring air conditioning to the L&D and OB Ward was a major project for GMHA. Now finished, GMHA can focus on its renovation plans for the OB, Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU). Currently, Rims Architects, who designed the original plans several years ago, are in the process of reviewing the drawings for re-certification. Once recertified, the project can move into the solicitation stage.
