263rd COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guams’s 263rd COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam on November 19, 2021. The patient was a 69-year-old female, unvaccinated. She tested positive on November 19, 2021.
“Jeff, Josh, and I pray for solace for her friends and family,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, let’s remain persistent with our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at upcoming gatherings. Continue to wear your mask around others that are not within your immediate household, keep a safe and healthy distance between yourself and others, and do not attend a social gathering if you are sick. These are all important measures to emerge out of this holiday season, stronger.”
20 Hospitalized for COVID-19
SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 8 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 60 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID- 19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 8 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.
