Deadline for Governor’s Education Assistance and Youth Empowerment Grant Program Set for June 11

PRESS RELEASE

Hagåtña, Guam – The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration announces the application period for the Governor’s Education Assistance and Youth Empowerment Grant Program will close on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 5 p.m.

The program launched on May 8 to fund student engagement opportunities for Guam’s public, private, and charter school students maximizing $33 million awarded in Education Stabilization Funds (ESF) dedicated to the Governor’s Office through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Guam State Clearinghouse, under the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Guam, has received over six dozen proposals in the past month from educational institutions, government entities, community organizations, and non-profit organizations proposing programs and activities to address learning recovery for students and to improve their social and emotional well-being.

“Thank you to our community partners for stepping up and providing an array of exciting and innovative opportunities for our students during this pandemic,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “We are appreciative of the efforts to support students with programs that embrace technology, promote health and wellness, address students with disabilities, promote cultural diversity, and so much more.”

“As more families and eligible students get vaccinated, we want to prepare our students as they safely return to the classroom,” said Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio. “We encourage our community organizations to submit their proposals as we know these opportunities will have a positive impact on the health and learning needs of students for years to come.”

Interested applicants can email clearinghousing@guam.gov for submission requirements and completed proposals. Hard copies can also be dropped to the Office of the Governor Central Files Office, open weekdays between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proposals should include a cover letter, detailed program narrative, budget justification, and COVID-19 safety plans and protocols.
