Håfa Adai! The Committee on Education, Libraries & Public Broadcasting will conduct an Oversight Hearing on the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) and the Guam Education Board (GEB) on Wednesday, June 24, 2026,beginning at 9:00 A.M., in the Public Hearing Room of the Guam Congress Building. The agenda is as follows: 
 

Guam Department of Education & Guam Education Board

1.    School Closure, Consolidation, and Decommissioning Plans

·      Status of any proposed school closures
·      Criteria used to evaluate schools
·      Timeline for decisions and implementation
·      Impact on students, employees, families, and village communities

2.    School Year 2026–2027 Reopening Plan

·      Readiness timeline
·      Classroom availability
·      Staffing and operational needs
·      Transportation, student support, and parent communication

3.    Facilities, Maintenance, and School Readiness

·      Status of repairs and maintenance at all campuses
·      Readiness of schools proposed for consolidation or transition
·      Priority facilities issues
·      Procurement and contractor timelines

4.     Special Education Services

·      Staffing levels and vacancies
·      Compliance status
·      Student service delivery plans
·      Supports for students affected by school closures or transitions

5.     J.P. Torres Success Academy Closure

·      Decision-making process and timeline

·      How audit findings will be used to improve operations, accountability, financial controls, and school-level services

·      GDOE’s plan to provide clear, consistent information
